BENTON - Antonio Smith, 20, was sentenced Friday to a maximum 30-year prison term by Judge Thomas Tedeschi, who described the defendant as "a danger to this community and county."

The stocky defendant dressed in orange jail scrubs had pleaded guilty in November to charges of attempted murder and home invasion for slashing Susan Zettler's throat in her Sesser home April 26. Zettler, 59, let Smith and co-defendant Jacob M. Bohannon in when they asked to use her telephone.
