What are your favorite episodic game franchises? Here are mine.....

1: Legend Of Zelda: Played and beaten pretty much all of them except for Link's Awakening and Phantom Hourglass. Twilight Princess is my favorite game ever. Ocarina Of Time used to be my favorite but Twilight Princess edged it out. The only one I was ever disappointed by was Majora's Mask. The rest I loved and have played most all the way through several times.

2: Prince Of Persia: God these games are fucking awesome. I've played and beaten Warrior Within over ten times and can beat it in about seven hours. I've also played and beaten Sands Of Time and Two Thrones several times each. The next one is only going to be available on PS3 and 360. I don't own either system yet but I will probably buy one of them just to play this game.

3: Resident Evil: I've played and beaten most of them. Resident Evil 4 was crazy bad-ass. I've beaten it twice. I've played and beaten the old ones several times each. The remake of Resident Evil One on Gamecube was probably my second favorite of this franchise. It was the same game as the original but with new areas and freakier monsters. Intense.

4: Mario and Luigi games: When I say Mario and Luigi games, I mean the adventure-based ones and not all of the other endless Mario and Luigi crap they've released. (Like Mario Tennis). As we all know, the old ones are timeless classics. Super Mario 64 was one of the greats. I recently played and beat Super Mario Galaxy, which was probably one of the most addictive games I've ever played. I played all the way through as Mario, unlocked Luigi, played all the way through as Luigi and wound up getting all of the 242 stars it is possible to get in the Game.

5: Doom: Doom One, Knee Deep In The Dead, was the first shooter I ever played. Back in the day, I was fucking obsessed with it. Then, Doom 2 came out and I played and beat it several times. I've only played and beat Doom 3 once but man, what a game. Maybe the most intense game I've ever played. Try playing Doom 3 alone, with all the lights off and with headphones on so that all you can hear is the game. Then just hope no one inadvertently sneaks up on you because you will jump out of your fucking skin. I started Doom 3 again a few weeks ago and have gotten about a fifth of the way through it. I'll probably pick it back up again soon.

So, what are your favorite game series? Laters,

Ken

Grand Theft Auto - these games are dark-humored fun and some offer a cartoonish depiction of TNB. Like flight simulators, GTA San Andreas or GTA Vice City Stories can be called "TNB simulators".

Mario Kart - I love these games! Far more fun than conventional racing games and the Wii version is unbelieveably fun at parties.

How could I have forgotten about Mariokart? Yeah, Mariokart Wii rules. It's insanely fun and challenging. The more advanced karts are fucking impossible to unlock though. I will probably never unlock the Areoglider. Oh well.

3) Shining Force

4) Resident Evil-- But after RE4 the old ones are just too annoying to play anymore due to their suck ass controls.

1. Silent Hill 1-3 (for some reason I like games that scare the shit out of me.)
2. Jak and Daxter
3. Parasite Eve (it's got a pretty good story to it.)

Umm... that's all I can think of right now.

I was a huge Final Fantasy fan up until about VIII, then I lost interest in both Final Fantasy and video games in general. I've played 9, 10, and 12 to near completion but never finished them. I didn't like 8 at all.

About the only genre I'm a fan of are WWII games, like Call of Duty and Medal of Honor.

I liked the Elder Scroll series as well.

I lost interest in video games too.

I used to play them a lot in the past, not really sure what happened.

I did like Ratchet and Clank, GTA, A golf game called Hot Shots and Madden on PS2

A long time ago when I had a Sega, we loved Mortal Combat and Tekken.

Twisted Metal was cool when PS1 first came out.

There are many others that are good as well.

As stated by those responding before me..in no particular order...

1). Doom-A great series going back to the mid 90's...The graphics and scare value have jumped by leaps

2) Warcraft and Starcraft- loved the fact of when you keep clicking on your little units they eventually get pissed at you.

3)The Quake series- Loved the early game in the series where Nine Inch Nails did the music for the game and you had a NIN nail gun...brutal.

4) Silent Hill 3- Great creepy atmosphere...just annoyed at the mostly third person perspective.

4) Unreal series- The ones with the storyline not the deathmatch tournament.

5) Medal of Honor series- Stopped at Pacific assault...became too graphics intense for my system.

6) Stronghold and Stronghold II- Love being called "MY Lord" and the multi-tasking.

7) The Civilization series- Long game but fun.

8) The Half-Life Series- The only Freeman I would want to be!!!

9) Elder scrolls Morrowind and Oblivion- Liked the graphics in Oblivion but I loved the size of the island in Morrowind (and the ability of flying which they dropped in Oblivion) In the Oblivion game, with the burnt out city of KVATCH, I always think of Detroit!!!

10) S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Chernybol- Plan to get the sequel Clear sky's when I get a better computer and they clean up the present bugs in the game.

Fuck, I always became obsessed with whatever game I played, so it's hard to say which is a favorite... I could go way back to the late 80s and early 90s, but I get the feeling you might not have heard of a lot of the games. Always loved Castle Wolfenstein and every iteration thereof (there were 5 iterations over 20 years); All of the Doom and Quake games; The fucking beautiful Myst games — not much action, but great graphics; All of the Myth games and variation thereupon; All of the Lara Croft games; Warcraft and StarCraft; Civilization; All of the various Star Wars and Jedi Knights games; A very peculiar but strangely addictive game called "Alice," which was a Goth version of Alice in Wonderland; All of the various Tom Clancy mercenary games; Max Payne; The Halo games; Stubbs the Zombie; Call of Duty, etc. Oh, and what was that goddamned sniper game that was so gory and graphic that Congress tried to ban it? Can't remember the name, but I played that motherfucker to death, too.

Yes, I much prefer shoot-em-up to anything else, although I love hacking all games.

Now, I can say that one game probably caused me psychological damage, but not because I played it too much. It was first fucking Diablo. I know, you're thinking the first Diablo? WTF was so bad about that? Well, I plowed through the entire game in one sitting, took about a day, I think — I wrapped up the battle with the demon itself at about 2:00 AM, and the screen went black. I was exhausted, I had tunnel vision, I was jittery from too much caffeine, the room was dark — and then Diablo's victory clip suddenly burst forth on the screen, which is...well, you know what it is.

Scared the shit out of me, just when I didn't need it. I had fucking nightmares afterwards, kept thinking about that clip for a couple of days. Yes, it was psychological injury!

I had to go back and beat Diablo repeatedly after that, as well as the subsequent Diablos. My brain got better.
