In prison there are no real outlets except books and lifting weights. I became obsessed with crossword puzzles, Scrabble, etc. Especially Scrabble after 8 years of daily Scrabble games, I can say with all modesty that I will smoke your ass!
The only guy I could never beat was a short little Jewish guy named Rick. He looked EXACTLY like Wallace Shawn from the Princess Bride movie. (No joke- he could have been his fucking twin- it was hilarious!)
The skinheads were mystified as to why I was hanging with this guy, but after like the tenth time in row he beat me, I became obsessed with winning against him. I average 400-500 points a game. he always seemed to just barely squeak ahead by 5 or 10 points....
It was a surreal scene day after day in the library- a Nazi skinhead playing Scrabble with a little Jewish man. We actually became friends because I am not a complete asshole. It was a joke between us that I was me and he was him and yet we still got along fine.
This is what is funny about the story: The last time we played, the day before he got out, we were almost dead even. I had 425 points, he had 417. His previous move, he had made the word "anti". The seven tiles I had were S_E_M_I_T_E_S. Call bullshit if you like, but this is what actually happened!
I laid down the tiles to make "anti semites" and hit the double word score, taking into the lead. We looked at eachother and we both laughed. I said. "I finally beat you ya little shit!" He chuckled and laid down his last tiles using the "I" in my "semites" he made the word "zionists" and won the fucking game by 11 points!
I am a nazi, but that little fucker was the best jewish Scrabble player I ever met. My helmet is off to you Sir!
