I'm a classic TV buff, so S&S is plenty familiar to me. Watching it while growing up, the niggers were often called "cute" by white viewers. Same for critters like Rerun on What's Happening and whatnot.

Recently I watched a couple S&S episodes on TV Land. In both, the theme centered around Fred trying to fuck everyone ever. In one, both Fred and Lamont spent the whole episode trying to fuck each other over. I don't even recall what the object of all that chicanery was....probably a can of Big Red or something.

I found that interesting. Not once can I recall my old man ever trying to cheat me out of anything. In fact, I seem to remember him acting consistently on my behalf right up to this day, and surely beyond. That's actually an understatement - the man has sacrificed much to ensure that I'd have a much better life than his. No other option was even entertained. Fancy that!

It would really suck to be a nigger and rarely fail to be an arm's length away from someone who's trying to pull a fast one on ya.

Funny thing is that the writers wrote nigger in the script..noone complained. they got a big laugh..everyone is happy

I have several seasons of this show on DVD and I, too, find lots of it funny. Niggers back then could still be niggers on television and no one seemed to mind. I particularly liked Aunt Esther, she was one of my favorite characters. But I felt that the show portrayed the niggers with enough humor to make it funny but kept the niggers in a realistic setting. I don't watch it too much anymore, because there are so many coons, boons and baboons on television and film, today, that I don't go out searching for even old nigger stereotypes. I just avoid them and find old crime~dramas from the 70's and early 80's more enjoyable.

Great observation, Bunker. None of us, I'm sure, have had fathers who would have entertained the thought of cheating us out of anything. The complete opposite would hold true for us, because our parents were/are human. Niggers are like hyenas and will eat their young. This, in no way, excuses their behavior, but helps us to understand the danger they pose to those around them.

I'm also a big fan of old television shows and have an extensive DVD collection~~~this is pretty much the only stuff I watch, after Hussein Obongo sneaked into the White House. The old DVDs help to keep me sane.

I never liked S&S because I could sense the subtle media brainwashing that it reeked of. Good Times was the same bullshit. I did like the Jeffersons because it was just funny.
