I'm constantly on the lookout for armchair genealogists to :cff and exchange information with. I'm not much of a computer person, can do basic functions, but don't have a web site or anything like that but know that the internet can provide a wealth of information.

When my one cousin started researching our family tree 20 years ago, he did it the old-fashioned way, traypsing through cemeteries and libraries, very time-consuming, but, for him, it was a labor of love.

anyway, I'd love to share information!-cheers

I'm not into genealogy, but my niece is. She traced our family back seven generations to our German ancestor who immigrated here (legally) in 1751.
I suppose that makes me a Nazi to nigger beasts, even though my father did WWII on the American side.

I believe everyone should know where they came from. Almost all my ancestors are Northern European; Swedish, Finnish, German and Norwegian mostly. I only wish I could've kept my family name, Niemenen. They changed it to Nelson when my family came over.

As a kid, I also took a keen interest in recessive hereditary traits in both humans and animals. At the time I was also fascinated with reptiles, and decided to start there and maintained several breeding colonies of mostly Leopard Geckos and Corn Snakes. It was also at that time I learned that, in the animal kingdom, "racism" is 100% natural. It was very interesting to see that oftentimes, the aberrant examples of animals were shunned by more "normal" looking specimens and there was a much higher incidence of "disagreement" and fighting between them. I've also produced some incredibly beautiful animals.

I have not studied human geneaology as much as I've studied it in the animal kingdom, but it's always been an interest of mine. It's funny, lately my interest in it has been sparked again and I'm honestly considering it as a career choice. It is endlessly fascinating.

I love geneology. Oddly enough, one of the greatest resources for geneological studies is the Mormon church. In Utah I believe, they have a mountain literally hollowed out and it is packed with millions upon millions of micro fische, documents, etc... They have taken everything they can find on the human race concerning family lines and compiled it into one place. I have been studying my family tree for over a decade and that place is a tremendous resource.

I've heard that too, Odin. I would like to investigate that avenue further. My cousin really did us proud; my dad's paternal side of the family originated from England; the patriarch coming over in 1639 and being one of the earliest settlers in Milford, CT. No niggers in the woodpile either!!

my tree also has branches in Germany, northern France, Ireland and possibly, Italy.

do any of you know any really productive links where amateurs like me can work from? I'd appreciate any information.

much thanks............

I heard ancestry.com was free this weekend, you might want to check it out. If i have extra time i may do so myself. I'm hoping to find some Confederates in my heritage, unfortunately i only know of a union soldier in my background :rsp

I have some pretty cool family history, including congressmen and a state governor in my family. And a few confederates too.

I was able to get my paternal ancestry to the 1400's. I have a direct ancestor named Lancelot. How cool is that?
