Drexel hoopsters sought in robbery

THEY THOUGHT they had a plan, a real good plan, one that just couldn't fail.
Jamie Harris and Kevin Phillip, two Drexel University basketball players, stormed into a female Drexel student's apartment on Wednesday night brandishing guns, expecting to score a big stash of cash, police said.
But the plan kind of fell apart - the young woman didn't have any money - so Harris and Phillip grabbed her iPhone and took off, police said.
Their getaway was caught on tape.
Harris, the Dragons' starting point guard, and Phillip, a backup forward, are now fugitives, wanted on charges that include robbery, theft and conspiracy, said Lt. John Walker, of Southwest Detectives.
The two cohorts, both 21, are considered armed and niggerous, Walker said. The victim positively identified Harris and Phillip as the assailants from a photo spread, and arrest warrants were issued for the pair on Saturday, he added.
Investigators have already charged a third man who participated in the robbery, Walker said. Devon Bond, 21, also attends Drexel helped set up the heist, Walker said.
Bond, Harris and Phillip all live at University Crossings, an off-campus student housing property at 31st Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard.
Bruiser Flint, the head coach of Drexel's basketball team, said last night that he was unaware that two of his players were wanted by police. "I'm trying to figure this thing out," he said.
Other Drexel officials could not be reached for comment.
The trouble started shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday, when a surveillance camera recorded Bond, who was wearing a backpack, trying to open the door to a young woman's apartment on Lancaster Avenue near 36th Street, Walker said.
Bond paced back and forth for a little while, with a cell phone pressed against his ear. He bided his time in a nearby business, and then returned to the apartment at 10:30 p.m.
This time, he rang the doorbell, and the woman answered. Walker said that the woman recognized Bond from Drexel - they both took the same business class - and as a friend of her male roommate, who wasn't at home.
She invited him in, and the plan started to kick into gear. As Bond entered the apartment, he was shown on surveillance footage sticking a piece of paper between the door frame and the lock, preventing the door from locking, Walker said.
Bond and the female student made small talk for a few minutes, and then he announced that he was leaving.
He didn't get far. The woman told investigators that Bond marched back into her apartment moments later, trailed by Harris and Phillip, who were both brandishing handguns, Walker said.
Bond was forced to the ground by one of the robbers in an attempt to make it look like he was a victim, too. It was all part of the plan.
One of the Drexel basketball players began pointing at the woman's bed and ordering her to hand over cash, Walker said. She stammered that she didn't have any.
The robbers grabbed her iPhone and warned the woman that they would return if they found out that she had been lying about the money, Walker said.
Bond got off the floor, eyeballed the woman for a moment, and took off, Walker said. Police later tracked him down and pieced together the story behind the ham-fisted robbery.
Bond, who's from Marlton, N.J., was charged Thursday with robbery, theft, conspiracy and related offenses.
Walker said detectives think that Harris and Phillip might have fled to New York, where they grew up.
Harris, a senior, was the Dragons' leading scorer last year. Phillip, a junior, is a bench player who appeared in 31 games.
According to Drexel's Web site, Harris and Phillip are both majoring in general humanities and social science.

Drexel Students Surrender After Home Invasion
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― Two members of Drexel University's basketball team have surrendered to police following an armed robbery in an on-campus apartment last week.
Star senior point guard and starter for Drexel's basketball team Jamie Harris and junior forward Kevin Phillip surrendered to police Monday morning.
Harris, Phillip and a third Drexel student, Devon Bond, who allegedly propped to the door open, were charged for allegedly robbing a female student during a home invasion on July 21.
Authorities said a 21-year-old female was robbed at gunpoint inside her apartment on the 3500 block of Lancaster Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. When their demands for cash went unmet, police said the suspects fled the home with the victim's cell phone.
"Obviously she was very distressed, she has two guns and she has guys who were to guys over six feet tall," said Philadelphia Police Lt. John Walker.
Both Phillip and Harris agreed to surrender after learning warrants were issued for their arrest over the weekend. Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
Defense Attorney Robert Lynch said Harris is at Drexel on full scholarship and vows to fight the charges.
"He's an excellent student, he comes from a great family from New York, he's never been in trouble in his life," Lynch said. :lol
"Why he (Harris) would do something like this is just beyond human comprehension. Obviously he has a good career, possibility of making it into the NBA or other areas," Lieutenant John Walker said.
Drexel University officials released a statement that read in part:
"The University has placed the students on interim suspension pending the outcome of the investigation. Drexel University's Department of Public Safety is fully cooperating with the Philadelphia Police Department in the ongoing investigation."

Only niggers would be this stupid. These guys are on par with the human robbers in that Brinks Home Security commercial where they break in to the house in broad daylight. Fucking morons though about on par with the niggers in the NBA these days. They're all gang members now. Losers.
This is absolutely repugnant. Drexel is a really good school. At least it was. These POS niggers have the priviledge to go there and more than likely they are on a full affletik skawlership and they pull this shit- just goes to show that a nigger can't change it's stripes. Thousands of White, Asian, etc students would give anything for a chance to go to Drexel and would probably pay their own way too. They need to ban niggers from human schools. This makes me madder than hell. Worthless shit niggers.

3 ex-Drexel students to be tried on armed-robbery charges
Two former Drexel University basketball players and a third former Drexel student were held for trial yesterday for allegedly robbing a female student at gunpoint in her apartment in July.
Jamie Harris, who had been the team's point guard and leading scorer, and Kevin Phillip, a reserve forward, stormed the University City apartment July 21 looking to rob a marijuana dealer, according to a statement from the third student, Devon Bond, 21.
Bond told police that when the players asked if he knew a "weed" dealer they could rob, he suggested the female student.
Bond told the players that he had bought marijuana from the woman and that she bought it by the pound, according to the statement, read by Detective Fred Mole.
Bond called the woman the night of the robbery, went to her building, on Lancaster Avenue near 35th Street, and was buzzed in by her, police said. Before going upstairs, he propped open the door with napkins.
As Bond was leaving about 10 minutes later, two masked men wearing hoodies pushed him back inside the apartment, the woman testified. Harris, 21, forced Bond to the floor at gunpoint, she said, while Phillip, 21, put a gun to her head and demanded money.
"He kept asking me for money, over and over again," the woman calmly told Municipal Judge Frank Brady.
"I'll never forget those eyes," she said about Phillip, whose face was partially covered with a bandanna.
The woman said she had no money, so the robbers fled with two cell phones. Shortly after the gunmen had gone, she said, Bond got up from the floor and left without saying anything.
