AIC is one of my all time favorites. Jerry Cantrell's solo work is pretty good, too.

They're good, but their music is too depressing for me to listen to. I feel like i should be slashing my wrists or something when i hear them.

One of the best bands ever. Too bad Layne decided to commit slow suicide. I was given a chance to see them about 10 months ago. It was an all acoustic show in an auditorium built in the late 1800's, maybe 2000 seats at the most. I honestly have no idea how many concerts I have been to but this was probably the second best concert I have ever seen, even without Layne.
I also saw them play like one and a half songs in 1991 when they opened up for Anthrax, Megadeth, and Slayer at Clash of the Titans. We were late and at the time nobody heard of A.I.C.
It's hard to say what album I like the best but Unplugged and Dirt are really good. Also, Jerry has some really good ones on Boggy Depot.
Not a bad seat in the house:

I remember seeing the Man in the Box song and video as a kid and being really disturbed by it. Edgy stuff for a 12 year old from Indiana!

Yeah, AIC was a fucking bad-ass band back in the day. Dirt was a phenomenal album. Sadly, I never got to see them live.

I did. Several times.
In fact, I was at the Clash of the Titans show in Houston. Megadeth just plain ripped.
They were awful live early on, but got WAY better with time.
I still listen to Dirt. Its good stuff for running.

Alice in Chains is my favorite band. But why the hell did they get a nigger (william duvall) to replace Layne Staley? I wonder what Layne would think.

Wow, this is news to me. I looked up that name and it looks like it's a half nig. That really sucks. I was even at the show at the vid I posted above. I was really fucked up and couldn't see straight though. I wasn't too far from where the guy was filming, I honestly didn't notice.
Jerry sang most every song at that show I believe, if not every one.
EDIT:
Also, for those that don't know, Layne Stanley also sang with Mad Season. The album is called Above. Not the greatest but there are a couple songs on there that sound identical to A.I.C in their prime.

Is this the group that did that song "Jeremy"? I'll never forget seeing that video on MTV (back when MTV really DID play music videos), it was pre-Columbine, and very prophetic. Very, deep insightful group.
Nope, sorry, that was Pearl Jam, my bad.......I know who Alice in Chains are now
