Robbery suspects fleeing from cops tore through the streets of Harlem on Tuesday, smashing into another car in a wild crash that killed a dedicated Catholic nun.

Steel crumpled and glass shattered when a Chrysler Pacifica that had been speeding at more than 60 mph blew through a red light and collided with a Honda Odyssey.

When it was over, Sister Mary Celine Graham, 84, lay crushed in the street.

The smashup also sent a suburban mom to the hospital with bleeding on the brain and injured three others.

"It sounded like an explosion," said witness Wayne Harris, who owns a nearby barbershop. "They started doing 360s."

The chaos erupted after an unmarked police car pulled over a Pacifica with three people inside near the corner of Lenox and W. 140th St., police sources said.

The car matched a description of a vehicle used in a pair of armed robberies Monday, police sources said. Investigators also suspected it was used as a getaway car in a robbery of a Columbia University student early yesterday.

The driver of the Pacifica, 18-year-old William Robbins, stepped out of the car and surrendered to police, but a passenger scooted over behind the steering wheel and sped off, police sources said.

As a second NYPD patrol car followed, the Pacifica raced 18 blocks down Lenox and swerved to avoid a street sweeper at the corner of W. 122nd St., witnesses said.

It then crashed into the Honda Odyssey driven by Amy Feinberg, of Montvale, N.J., and went careening into pedestrians, witnesses told cops.

"I heard two cars skidding," said Raul Carrasquillo, 32, who was in his apartment above the crash scene. "I saw a crash and bodies on the floor."

Graham, who lived at Franciscan Handmaids of the Most Pure Heart of Mary convent on W. 124th St., was walking with her health aide, Patricia Cruz, to a physical therapy appointment in the moments before the 9:20 a.m. crash.

Graham was born in Jacksonville, Fla., and raised in Detroit. She joined her order in 1948 and was a longtime preschool teacher in Harlem and Staten Island.

"We are still in shock at the loss of our sister, a woman of strong faith and courage," said the convent's mother superior, Sister Loretta Theresa Richards.

Her aide's family said they could not bear to break the news to Cruz that Graham had died. "She keeps asking about Sister Mary and we just tell her to rest," said Cruz's daughter, Delia Seelal. "She and my mom had a close relationship."

NYPD cops are not supposed to engage in high-speed car chases because of high risk of injury to innocent bystanders.

Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne, the NYPD's top spokesman, could not say when the second patrol car joined the chase or how fast it was going. "The people responsible for the injuries and death are the armed robbers who fled the scene," Browne said.

Cruz, 50, and a biker, 26-year-old Steven Phan, suffered serious injuries but are expected to survive, officials said.

Feinberg was taken to St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital and was in stable condition. Her 15-year-old son, Jared, suffered minor injuries.

The Pacifica's driver and rear passenger kicked open the crumpled door and ran through the crowds, police said. They remain at large.

A gun was found in the SUV's backseat, police said.

Cops nabbed a robbery suspect Wednesday after they say he bolted from the scene of a wild Harlem smashup that killed a beloved 84-year-old nun.

Dyson Williams is accused of causing a chain-reaction crash that killed Sister Mary Celine Graham.

Williams was the passenger in a Chrysler Pacifica when it was pulled over by police Tuesday. The driver, 18-year-old William Robbins, stepped out of the car - but Williams, 20, got behind the wheel and sped away, cops said.

He slammed into a Honda Odyssey minivan at the corner of Lenox Ave. and W. 122nd St. As Graham lay in the street, Williams fled, cops said.

Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly confirmed that an NYPD car was following the Pacifica but denied that it played a role in the crash.

Williams was charged with second-degree murder and robbery; Robbins was charged with robbery, cops said. They are expected to be arraigned today.

The Honda's driver, 55-year-old Amy Fineberg, suffered bleeding on the brain but said she is expected to make a full recovery.

Man charged with mowing down nun in Harlem: I was not behind wheel

The man charged with mowing down a beloved nun in Harlem said Thursday he wasn't behind the wheel - it was a third, unidentified suspect. (Ah di-int do nuffin, it wuz sum udder nigger.)

"I just want to own up to what I did, the robbery," Dyson Williams said yesterday in a jailhouse phone call to the Daily News.

"They're telling me I got to take 40 years for this... That's not the time I should be doing," he said. "I owned up to the robbery I committed, but they're trying to blame me for her murder."

Williams, who fled cops, leaving fellow suspect, William Robbins, 18, behind, claimed he jumped out of the car before it hit a minivan that killed Sister Mary Celine Graham, 84.

Cops say Williams was driving at the time.

"There were two suspects, and we have both of them," police spokesman Paul Browne told The News.

Williams and Robbins were awaiting arraignment Thursday night.

Anything a nigger puts his paws on turns into death
and violence. Niggers should be sent straight to
prison the moment they are born.

Accused robbers charged with murder in Sister Mary Celine Graham's death

Two accused robbers were charged Wednesday with killing a beloved Harlem nun - even the teen cops arrested minutes before his partner plowed their getaway car into her.

Dyson Williams, 20, and William Robbins, 18, are accused of felony murder in the death of Sister Mary Celine Graham, 84, following a string of robberies.

Robbins was detained by police June 22, right before Williams jumped into the driver's seat and fled, plowing into the Catholic nun about 20 blocks away.

Prosecutors argued the speeding Chrysler Pacifica that killed Graham was connected to the robbery, making Robbins responsible.

But his lawyer, Mark Heller, claimed that Williams' flight from police constituted a new crime and that his client cooperated with the arresting officers.

"This case will no doubt become a landmark case defining the parameters of felony murder," Heller said.

Williams was also charged with depraved indifference murder, and both were hit with a slew of other counts.

Relatives of Harlem nun struck and killed during police car chase to sue city

Relatives of a beloved Harlem nun killed when she was hit by an out-of-control car fleeing police announced Friday their intent to sue the NYPD.

Sister Mary Celine Graham, 84, was cut down June 22 as she went for her daily walk, crushed by a stolen SUV after it collided with another car.

Cops were following the SUV - which had a robbery suspect behind the wheel - in the moments before the crash. Graham's family and caretaker say the police were responsible for the deadly wreck.

"We're seeking justice for a death that was clearly avoidable," the family's attorney Frederick Brewington said. "This could have been prevented by the police."

Two accused robbers, Dyson Williams, 20, and William Robbins, 18, were charged with felony murder in the days after Graham's death.
