Brody robbed at least ‘30 times’

Actor Adrien Brody is convinced growing up in a tough area of New York has made him a strong adult - because he was robbed at least 30 times in his youth.
The Oscar winner spent his childhood in Queens, New York and admits he was the victim of many violent crimes, including one terrifying incident when he was mugged by an armed robber.
But Brody isn't angry about being targeted as a kid, calling his experiences a "rite of passage" for "everyone in New York".
He tells Britain's Mail On Sunday's Live magazine, "It was a rough neighbourhood. I never at any point in my life wanted to do anybody any harm, but I refused to let anyone push me around. I've been robbed by 30 people. I guess everyone in New York has been a victim of armed robbery, at least the old New York...
"It's nothing. It's a rite of passage... I wasn't a particularly bad kid, but if you're not physically imposing, you have to know people who are imposing, who watch your back."
And Brody insists he feels "lucky" to have escaped his troubled background to find success as an actor. He adds, "I have friends who didn't make it - whether it was from drugs or life being too hard or a combination. That's part of life. I feel lucky."
