At least 63 pupils from a KwaZulu-Natal south coast high school were arrested after going on the rampage and damaging school property, police said on Tuesday.
Superintendent Zandra Wiid said 37 girls and 26 boys from the Mbusi High School in Ezinqolweni had demolished 447 windows, damaged a car and burnt books in the library on Monday.
This is almost unbelievable only we know how these savages behave.
She said the pupils were upset as they were not allowed to use the computers at the school.
"When they asked the principal why they could not use them, he told them they still needed to be connected... and the pupils didn't accept the explanation," said Wiid.
Police were called into the school and all 63 pupils were taken into police custody and detained at the police station.
They were expected to appear in the Ezinqolweni magistrate's court shortly on charges of public violence, police said
