My mother grew up during this period (the 1930's) and although she never spoke about it (can't say I blame her), it breaks my heart all the same. Read it and weep, my friends..

The book is a depressing rag. It's good thought if you are in the mood.

Good news? No niggers! So enjoy before libertards stake claim that Ireland was discovered by Apefrikans who invented fucken everything and Henry Louis Gates will make a movie with 90% of Irish being black. Ugh, fucken niggers.

Anyways, it's nigger free!

Limrick was always the toughest part of Ireland to grow up, you should see it now, its like a nigger shithole with few jigs though!

Quite correct - it's depressing as hell. I do wonder how much of the squalor and poverty was poetic license on the author's part, and if not, how widespread it actually was?

Reading that book was a huge downer.
It's a great read for someone who loves the depressing stuff....sure wouldn't be a let-down to them.
