My more bizarre friends (the most interesting ones) and I really liked "House of 1,000 Corpses". I didn't find it scary at all. I did have trouble stomaching the sequel, "The Devil's Rejects". That one was very psychologically disturbing.

I hope this guy doesn't become mainstream, or worse, sell out.

The only one I have seen is HO1000C. I did enjoy, But I did find it disturbing, and guess it supposed to be. A great sequal would be House of a Thousand nigger Corpses, however I dont think Rob makes feel good movies. :hng

Rob Zombie isn't "breaking new ground"... He thinks he's recapturing the real horror of shit like the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which was rated X for violence, as I recall.

But you've gotta take "horror" in context... The original TCM had no competition in the early 1970s, there wasn't a fucking thing against which to compare it. I mean, what else was there? Hitchcock's Psycho? Romero's Night of the Living Dead? Friedkin's The Exorcist?

When Texas Chainsaw Massacre first came out, people were literally having nervous breakdowns in the theatre. No shit. But today's horror audiences have balls of steel compared to the 1970s crowd, and you can't scare us with time-worn gimmicks the likes of which Rob Zombie tries to employ.

Sure, I could appreciate parts of Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses, except that the guy can't even set-up a simple shocker — you know, like a girl hears a noise and a fucking cat jumps out, and she sighs in relief and turns around and BANG she catches an ice-pick in her ear. That's a simple shocker. That's like high school horror. Rob Zombie just can't do it, for some reason, he can't set-up worth a shit, you can see every gimmick coming from a mile away.

So it's just not scary.

I liked HO1000C for it's comedy, the grim antics of Captain Spaulding, but that was about it. Oh, and I liked the action figures of Spaulding and Dr. Satan.

But Devil's Rejects? God Almighty, that was so lame I wanted to jump off a fucking cliff just to wake up.

The part in "The Devils Rejects", where Captain Spaulding and the Nigger Pimp go to buy the chicken is funny as hell.

I don't think anybody accused him of "breaking new ground"; in fact, the whole subject is hardly worthy of any kind of intellectual discourse. I just enjoyed the movie!rolfl

Are you accusing me of intellectual discourse?? :chain rolfl

No, when it comes to movies, I'm an asshole, it's always been that way. I used to go to any given movie like 3 or 4 times in the theatre: First time was just for the initial impact; Second time was to analyze the editing; Third time was to just listen to the soundtrack (seriously, just sit through the whole film with my eyes closed); and the Fourth time was to look for errors and continuity glitches and shit like that.

Anyway, I've seen interviews and reviews where critics discuss Rob Zombie "breaking new ground" in horror. But I wasn't implying that anyone in here said that.

To be honest, when I was getting ready to watch House of 1000 Corpses, I was really expecting something great, being from Rob Zombie. It wasn't that bad though I guess.

I haven't seen the other movie that was mentioned but I might download it.

Rob is a real cool, down to earth guy and he puts on one hell of a concert. I could have sworn in one show he had holograms but it's hard telling if he really did or not due to that piece of paper I took.:lol

Whoa, I just had a flashback to the 1977 "Godzilla" tour with Blue Oyster Cult.

By any chance, did you see that BOC show at the Long Beach Arena?

No, it was at The Summit in Houston, Texas. It was wild, man. For a month afterwards, people from the audience were complaining about headaches and poor eyesight, it was in the news — turns out the BOC laser show was using industrial lasers, about a thousand times too powerful for human exposure. LOL

And the opening band was pretty good, too. Little group called Genesis with Phil Collins.

Those were some great days, man.

Eating paper will do it every time. Good Lord man, paper is for reading, not for recreation!!!

I loved house of 1000 corpses....

I sometimes feel like Otis.

I can relate to the movie due to seeing crappy 1970's movies at the drive-in and on t.v. in the day (before youtube and computer downloads let alone dvd or vhs tapes....yes there was a time where there was no instant gratification)

I liked the concept of a whole family of sociopathic killers working in tandem.
The victems being dressed as "bunnies" was a nice touch.

The Devils rejects however was too much for me. I don't get off on such severe cruilty.
