I saw one or two previews for this; the title of the movie is, I believe, "Project Thunder" and co-stars Ben Stiller and Jack Black. It looks hysterical, and from what I gather, is somewhat of a satire. Has anyone seen this, or has any thoughts on this?

It's called "Tropic Thunder," stars Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr, Jack Black, Nick Nolte, and Tom fucking Cruise. Yeah, I said Tom Cruise.

Film is about a bunch of hack actors trying to make a Rambo-like action movie based on the story of a Vietnam vet, but the production goes so badly that the studio decides to pull the plug. The director of the action movie makes a desperate decision to continue filming, with a twist — he decides to drop his unprepared actors into the jungles of Vietnam and film them with remote security cameras (mounted in trees), the object being to capture their real emotions as they struggle to survive, right?

Unfortunately, they drop the actors into the goddamned middle of a Vietnamese heroin trafficking operation. The actors think they're still making a war movie, can't figure out why nobody is following the script. Zany fucking hijinx ensue...

Robert Downey Jr. plays a blond Australian method actor who has a reputation for transforming into whatever character he's playing. So he's always in character, on or off the set. This White actor even undergoes a medical procedure to turn his skin black, and he basically becomes a rough-ass nigger fashioned after Richard Roundtree (Shaft).

Which is funny as hell because he plays a better nigger than a real nigger... "I'm de dude playin' a dude disguised as another dude!"

Not a "must see" movie, but funny.

He definitely is! He was the absolute balls as Tony Stark, and the clips I've seen of him in "Tropic Thunder" are Academy Award material.

Version #1 looks pretty decent. Since this stuff streams from Asia, I'm fairly certain you're not breaking any laws by watching it.

I saw it last night. Downey was the balls! Even Ben Stiller, who I normally don't care for, was great. Tom Cruise was in it and he sucked like he always does (Man, I'll just never get Tom Cruise). Anyway, it was very well written and really reminded me of "This Is Spinal Tap" in a lot of ways.

And Taylor, I don't get Cruise either... I really, truly don't. There are so many better actors than that guy, but he gets the nods... guess it's one of life's mysteries...

Come to think of it, I haven't seen Iron Man either. Don't laugh, but I live fifty miles away from a movie theater. Small town life isn't what I thought it would be. :)

Tom Cruise's "star" went supernova a long time ago::clwn and I can tell you, he never did a thing for me, overrated jerk as far as I'm concerned.

There should be an island for misfit "actors", just like the island of misfit toys. First group of denizens should include, in addition to Cruise, Clooney, Pitt, Afleck, and any other liberal nigger-loving no talent wimp.
