Scroll down to the picture of the mother gorilla holding/mourning her dead baby. At first I thought it was the "missing link" (you know, between non-human great apes and Africans). Freaky!

Also, my mom and I once watched a 2 (or so)-year-old niglet and a couple young chimps stare mesmerized at one another through the glass at a zoo for a very, very long time (the chimps had been playing crazily when the niglet and its sow first entered the area, but once the chimps had spotted the little nig, they rushed over to it and sat in a tree branch, just staring and staring and staring). It was like both the cimps and the niglets were thinking "yo ma cuzin."
