Top stuff, and I do like a bit Tom T. Hall.

As I see it the original song is about how fools will vote for any life form if it wears the appropriate political party colours.

I know exactly what Tom T. is getting at with his words, I've seen some absolute fucking losers voted into political office in Australia, so it's not a problem exclusive to the USA.
