When interviewed over the last week, the women were discussing more than two dozen criminal charges against Brown, most of them felonies, accusing the 37-year-old of sexually assaulting several female patients. After posting $50,000 bail following a July 8 arrest on allegations of sexual assault on a patient and an undercover Los Angeles Police officer, Brown was re-arrested July 21 when six additional patients came forward with claims. He has been held ever since on $4 million bail, an amount that his lawyers and backers say is excessive. If convicted, Brown faces up to 27 years in state prison, and he is due in court again on Sept. 4.
“The first case charges one count of sexual battery by fraud, one count of attempted sexual battery by fraud, one felony count of sexual exploitation by a physician and two misdemeanor counts of sexual exploitation by a physician and then two misdemeanor counts of sexual battery,” said Deputy District Attorney Ann Marie Wise. The second complaint, she said, includes 19 felony charges ranging from sexual battery to forcible rape.
